HOW MUCH DOES IT COST?

Calls to 101 will cost 15p for the entire call, no matter how long the call or what time of day it is.

This applies to both landlines and mobile phones.

WHY INTRODUCE IT?

Merseyside Police receive more than 350,000 emergency calls a year and many of these are non emergencies: some are not relevant to the police at all.

It is hoped 101 will help to reduce the pressure on 999 calls and will help the police to provide a better service to callers.

101 is easy to remember and provides the public with a no. to report crimes that do not require emergency response.

Examples of when to use 101:

*If your car has been stolen

*If your property has been damaged or vandalised

*If you want to report a minor traffic accident

Don't let the criminals spoil your day.
